‘A SHORT PLEASURABLE JOURNEY, PART. 2’ EXHIBITION BY JAMIE HAWKESWORTH
13/05/2019
Exhibition, News
DoBeDo is pleased to announce the opening of Jamie Hawkesworth’s latest exhibition, A Short Pleasurable Journey, Part 2.

84 Photographs and 1 film all made in Floresti, Transylvania in June 2018.

“I always find myself thinking about the feeling of naivety, how everything feels so simple and confusing at that first moment of discovery, when you react from just your gut and the energy this creates. I think this has to be the most valuable and sensitive state of mind and something so important to hold onto.

In July 2018, I found myself in Floresti, Transylvania on a project following around a youth orchestra , that were performing across Romania. Once I arrived in Floresti, I settled in and began exploring without expectation, each day waking up at sunrise and walking down the road with my camera.”

Opening 16th May 2019, 6-9pm

‘ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE’ EXHIBITION BY HANNA MOON AND JOYCE NG, LONDON
16/01/2019
Exhibition, News
DoBeDo is excited to announce English as a Second Languagethe exhibition of DoBeDo contributor Hanna Moon and Joyce Ng. Both photographers have created a new series of work responding directly to the history of Somerset House.

Bringing distinct Asian perspectives to their work, they reflect upon the power fashion photography holds in shaping our perceptions of beauty, style and taste. Ng draws inspiration from the renowned sixteenth century Chinese novel ‘Journey to the West’ to create images which feel both familiar, yet surreal. Moon presents a dramatic reimagining of Somerset House’s neoclassical setting; photographing in the dark of night, rebelliously ‘invading’ the site to create a series of intimate works of her two female muses that reflect her personal experiences living in UK.

‘NOW AND THEN EXHIBITION’ BY DICK JEWELL, NOTTINGHAM
16/01/2019
Exhibition, News
DoBeDo is pleased to announce the opening of Now & Then, Dick Jewell’s most significant solo exhibition in recent years.

Jewell’s re-purposing and representation of images is varied and impressive; Now & Then brings together a range of works produced across a 30-year period, and provides an opportunity to see developments manifested over time.

Through film, photographs and photo-collages Now & Then chronicles his progression of observations across shifting technological and media perspectives; also in regards to people, as demonstrated by Jewell re-visiting his seminal 1989 film Headcases, whereby he has repeated the same set of questions to the same subjects 30 years on, in his latest film Head2Head.
