Dick Jewell
Dick Jewell is an artist working mainly in photography and filmmaking.
since publishing his first book 'found photos' in 1981, he has exhibited his work regularly. highlights include: 1982 Summer Show Serpentine Gallery, London, 1985 Identitiés Centre National de la Photographie, Paris, 2006 'Photo-London' Royal Academy of Arts, London and 'Reverie and Revolt' at Art Center, Miami, 2007.
he has shot & directed 30 documentary films and 20 music promos since 1985. including 'The Rise of Neneh Cherry', 'Headcases', 'The Jazz Room', 'Kinky Gerlinky', and most recently 'Dermot & Natasha' and 'The Queens Speech with the H’s Dropped' - both of which were screened at 2006 Raindance film Festival, London.
his work is also kept in various public collections: Victoria & Albert Museum, The Open University, Stedelijk Museum, Froebel Institute, Hayward Gallery, Leeds City Art Gallery, Arts Council of Great Britain.
Dick recently designed an exclusive Tshirt for DoBeDo as part of the ‘DoBeDo Photographer Series’ Tshirt subscription.
