Nigel Shafran

Nigel Shafran is a photographer.

Starting out as a fashion photographer in the 1980s, now he prefers to photograph subjects from his personal life, from his wife to suburban garages. These photograph highlight the way in which we order our domestic surroundings tapping into a wealth of information about lifestyle and character revealed by 'everyday' objects and surroundings.

He was featured in the Tate Britain’s: 'How we are: Photographing Britain' in 2007, and has exhibited at the Photographer’s Gallery, the Frieze Art Fair, the Geffrey Museum, the Saatchi Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

‘Island Stories: Fifty Years of Photography in Britain’ AT V&A FEATURING NIGEL SHAFRAN

DoBeDo contributor Nigel Shafran is part of a group exhibition at V&A.

Drawn exclusively from the V&A collections, this display features a selection of more than 80 photographs made in the UK since the 1950s. It focuses on individual projects, each of which tells a story. Collectively, they give a picture of life in Britain that reflects upon subjects ranging from landscape and industry to family and community.
